Slowing of a molecular beam is a formidable challenge and one of the major limiting factors in current experiments aiming for the production of ultracold molecular quantum gases through direct laser cooling. We developped a new radiative slowing scheme which could tackle this problem. In our publication we show how a Zeeman slower can be implemented when no closed magnetically tunable 2-level cycling transition is available, for the case of laser coolable molecules.
The type ll Zeeman slower scheme has been published in New Journal of Physics: Petzold et al 2018 New J. Phys. https://doi.org/10.1088/1367-2630/aab9f5
